4 Ways to Teach Black History the Entire Year
Most of us are aware that the purpose of Black History Month is to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions African Americans have made for our society. But it may be overwhelming to try and incorporate it throughout the entire year simply because we may not know how.
Black History Month is an excellent time to study the many contributions that African Americans have made to our country’s history and for our society.
HERE ARE 4 TIPS ON HOW YOU CAN EFFECTIVELY TEACH IT THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR.
So now what you may ask? How do I do all of that? First, I set the scene with decor for the month. There are 28 days to celebrate Black History Month so creating a beautiful display always excites the class! My Classroom decor set includes a border, posters, a bulletin board set, and a garland.
Next, I introduce my students to historical figures that we will learn about each day during the month. Black History: Historical Figures Fact of the Day Google Slides. There’s a video fact about each historical figure.

Don’t forget that February shouldn’t be the only time this year that your class of scholars study these accomplishments!
