Top End of Year Lesson Plan Mistakes Almost Everyone Makes

It’s hard to believe that Summer is right around the corner for so many of you! I know that trying to find end-of-the-year activities to fill the final days of school can be hard when you’re running on empty and reaching for anything that is low-prep, but still engaging.

You’ve probably been searching around the internet for quite some time now, trying to learn as much as you can about how to effectively plan for the end of the school year. Or maybe you’ve even tried to have your co-teachers work together to make them, but it didn’t turn out as well as you hoped. Indeed, if you’re like a lot of beginner first-year teachers, then you probably ended up frustrated and overwhelmed.

Don’t despair TEACHERS. You too can start with your general planning idea, and all you have to do is tweak your end-of-year topics and strategy a bit. Generally, that means you need to avoid making the following five common last-minute planning types of mistakes.

Mistake #1: Just guessing what you want to plan, but I’m betting that close to half of teachers, make this mistake. Worse yet, some of the blogs and products you find around the web actually teach people this last-minute mistake!

Mistake #2: Not planning your end-of-year lessons sooner… don’t worry this happens to ALL OF US!

Mistake #3: Buying a ton of resources and forgetting what you already have… I’ve been down this lane and let me tell you, spending tons of money with no idea of what you have is a NO-GO!

Mistake #4: Not creating a system to store what you already have that works!

That’s why I have the last week of school lesson plans that will not only help with all the planning but also with taking care of the guesswork!

Do you know why? You deserve it:)
